The SSS TRIO program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and has been at Oakton Community College since 1990. During 2013-2015, the Oakton SSS TRIO Program was funded to support 215 students from first generation, low-income, and/or disability backgrounds, who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and have evidence of academic need. Funding was secured for the 2015-2020 Grant Cycle through collaborative efforts between the TRIO Professional Team, Council for Education Equity (COE) and the Oakton Office of Alternative Funding and Grants.

The membership of Lambda Theta Phi is open to all college men who support its values of scholarship, respect for all culture, community service, and the advancement and fair treatment of Latinos. Lambda Theta Phi was the first Latin Fraternity to be recognized by the North-American Inter-Fraternity Conference (NIC) and has over 140 entities in the U.S.
